On 7 October 2025, the implementation phase of the project “WECARE: Emergency and Essential Healthcare Interventions for the Health and Future of Eritrean Children at the Hospitals of Asmara, Barentu and Mendefera” officially began.
The project is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) – Cairo Office, within the framework of the call “Emergency Initiative to Strengthen Basic Services in the Health, WASH and Agriculture/Food Security Sectors for Vulnerable Groups of the Eritrean Population” – AID 13106/01/0.
The initiative aims to strengthen neonatal care services at Orotta Hospital (Asmara), Barentu Hospital and Mendefera Hospital, while also supporting activities for the diagnosis and treatment of paediatric heart conditions.
Project duration: 12 months.
